The Moose dropped the first game of this three-game homestand on Tuesday when they faced a desperate Texas team that needed at least one point to clinch a playoff spot. There were lots of lineup moves with injuries and guys being held out for maintenance and it will be interesting to see if they do that again tonight.
It won’t be an easy game given this Canucks team came into the action with a 9-1-0 record in their last ten games.
Lineup changes:
Lots of movement as Jeff Malott, CJ Suess, Cole Maier, Nicholas Jones, Johnny Kovacevic & Jimmy Olignydraw all drew back in. David Gustafsson, Kristian Reichel, Kristian Vesalainen, Simon Lundmark, Markus Phillips, Haralds Egle, Thomas Caron all were out.
Moose lineup:
Malott – Suess – Eyssimont
Torgersson – Nikkanen – Bongiovanni
Polei – Maier – Jones
Lynch – Hutchinson – Johnson
Heinola – Kovacevic
Chisholm – Gawanke
Phillips – Stewart
Berdin
Cormier
Notable:
CJ Suess is on a heater with six goals and four assists in his last ten games. He had two tonight (see here & here) which tied his career high for goals (14) and set a new career high for points with 28.
Moose netminder Mikhail Berdin scored a goal but unfortunately for his team it was on himself.
Ville Heiniola had a goal and assist in the game along with eight shots. Of course the play everyone was talking about was this blindside hit which had his entire team coming to his defence.
The coaching staff used the ELC line of Bongiovanni, Torgersson and Nikkanen and they looked comfortable despite the fact that they are just playing in their second, third and third AHL games repsectively. 2020 2nd rounder Daniel Torgersson even scored his second goal showing good net front presence.
