Moose slide hits three as road trip begins with 4-1 loss to the Stars in Texas

After having their points streak snapped in their last game the Moose were looking to get back on track against a Stars team that had defeated them the prior two games (one of which was in extra time) back in Winnipeg. The unusual four straight games against the same opponent continued with tonight’s game in Texas.

Lineup news:

Chase Yoder and Fabian Wagner were back in after sitting last game while Tyrel Bauer replaced Dawson Barteaux on the backend. The team did make some tweaks to the lines and Thomas Milic got the net.

Moose lineup:

JAD – Yager – Fagemo
Barlow – Zhilkin – Di Giuseppe
Shaw – Gustafsson – Duehr
Empey – Yoder –Wagner

Heinola – Clague
Phillips – Salomonsson
Sautner – Bauer

Milic

Notable:

The Moose got off to a good start in Texas as the captain Mason Shaw opened the scoring just over two minutes into this one redirecting the Ashton Sautner shot from the point. David Gustafsson won the faceoff and gets the secondary assist. He’s up to 2G 5A for 7 points in 10 games.

After the visitors started the game with a 5-1 shot edge the home team got going the other way which is where Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic came up big with some stops.

Manitoba was a little lax in the final minute of the opening frame which gave Texas the opportunity to tie the game with just 25 seconds left.

The Stars stared the middle frame on fire taking a 6-0 shot edge and getting what would prove to be the game-winning goal less than two minutes into it.

About ten minutes later the Stars got an insurance goal which really sums up how things have gone for the Moose early in this season as Yager collided with Milic and Texas buried it to make it 3-1.

Moose pushing for a goal so they are taking chances at one end which leads to a chance for the Stars at the other but Milic came up with the stop.

An empty netter for the Stars with seconds remaining seats the deal on this one as Texas will win their third straight game against the Moose.
