Moose show some fight, coming back in 3rd period to defeat Stars 3-2

The Moose were looking to close out their fourth straight game against the Stars with a win after losing the three games prior to Texas in this unusual four-game set between the Central Division rivals.

Lineup news:

Only one change for the Moose with Dylan Anhorn coming in for Tyrel Bauer. They did make a move flipping JAD and Phillip Di Giuseppe.

Moose lineup:

Fagemo – Yager – Di Giuseppe
Barlow – Zhilkin – JAD
Shaw – Gustafsson – Duehr
Empey – Yoder –Wagner

Heinola – Clague
Phillips – Salomonsson
Sautner – Anhorn

Milic

Notable:

The Moose held a 12-6 shot edge after 20 minutes but found themselves trailing 2-0 to the Stars. First goal a bad bounce for the visitors who were pressing results in this goal. It looed like Thomas Milic contemplated coming out before staying in his net. About two minutes later Manitoba had numbers but Texas found a way to expand their lead.

The Gus Bus got the Moose on the board early in the middle frame on the power play. It was David Gustafsson’s third goal of the season. He’s got 3G 5A for 8 points in 11 games.

The Stars thought they had regained their two goal edge but this goal was disallowed. The middle frame ended with the Moose trailing by one goal.

Tough couple of games for Texas product Chase Yoder who had to be helped off the ice after taking this hit. He was slow to get up in yesterday’s game after he slide into the boards.

Moose needed a goal in a big way as Jets prospect Fabian Wagner got his first of the season which tied the game 2-2 in the 3rd period just under nine minutes into the final frame. Fellow prospect Brayden Yager with two assists in this game. His first multi point game as a pro.

Jets prospect Colby Barlow had his first of the season and the Moose had their first lead of the game. Great tip by Winnipeg prospect Danny Zhilkin before Barlow cleaned it up to make it a 3-2 game. Came just 25 seconds after Manitoba had tied the game. Turned out to be the game-winning goal which is the first in his pro career (it’s his second career goal, both of which came against Texas).

The Moose showed fight right till the end (and then a little past the end) of this game as they arrest their slide and pick up a 3-2 win over the Stars in Texas.

Multi-point game:

Brayden Yager 2A
Phillip Di Giuseppe 2A

Player post-game interviews:

To follow.

Up next:

These Moose will travel on Sunday as they continue their road trip in Rockford where they will take on the Icehogs for the first time this season. That game is on Wednesday.
