Moose pick up third win in last four games scoring with 10 seconds to go to defeat Admirals 2-1

The Moose had won a modest two games in a row before that was stopped in their last game against the top of the Central Stars so they were looking to get back on track against the second best team in the division with the Admirals in town for the first of two games to close out this six-game homestand. It included the first visit from Chase De Leo who was drafted by Winnipeg back in 2014 (4th round) since he last played for Manitoba back during the 2017-18 season.

Lineup news:

No changes to the lines or D pairs for the third straight game. Only change was in net as Domenic DiVincentiis was between the pipes.

Lines & D pairs:

Shaw– Toninato –Ford
Suess – King – Wagner
AJF – JAD – Lambert
Liwiski – Zhilkin – Empey

Sautner – Salomonsson
Phillips – Coghlan
Lundmark – Bauer

DiVincentiis

Notable:

Once again the Manitoba Moose hit a home run with their Follow Your Dreams jerseys.

Moose looked like they had opened the scoring with Parker Ford cleaning up in front but the whistle was blown early.

Tyson Empey grabs Tyrel Bauer’s usual dance partner Kyle Marino for a little tilt early in the 1st. Like how they both decided at same time ‘k enough of that’ and just stop the fight.

Manitoba held Milwaukee without a shot for the first 12:30 of the 1st period. They’d outshoot them 9-3 through 20 minutes but neither side could find the back of the net.

Seemed fitting that Parker Ford opened the scoring for the second time this game. This one will count although the Admirals did think the Moose forward deflected the puck with a high-stick. That was Ford’s team leading 14th goal of the season which made it 1-0 for Manitoba on the power play early in the middle frame.

At the end of the period it was Milwaukee who tied the game as they got a lucky break when Dylan Coghlan‘s shot snapped and then they turned it up ice on a 4 on 2 before they tied it.

Similar to the opening period in the final frame the Moose got out to a good start with an 8-0 shot edge and not giving up their first shot of the 3rd period until the 8:56 mark.

This game seemed destined for OT but the Moose played until the final whistle getting a favourable bounce which Jaret Anderson-Dolan used to drive to the Admirals net as time wound down. Then Jets prospect Brad Lambert grabbed it from behind the net and fired it to the front where Dylan Coghlan buried it into the goal with just 10 seconds remaining to make it a 2-1 game.

That was Dylan Coghlan’s 7th goal in just 14 games with the Moose. Quite the pace for a defenceman. Brad Lambert with his team leading 17th assist of the season gets the primary.

While the playoffs remain a very uphill climb for Manitoba (32 points) they do have three games in hand on both Iowa (36 points) and Rockford (44 points) who sit ahead of them.

Multi-point game:

Dylan Coghlan 1G 1A
