The Moose win streak ended on Sunday at two games but they began a new points streak which hit three games when they fell 2-1 to the Stars in overtime in Winnipeg.
Lineup news:
Just a few changes as Chase Yoder and Fabian Wagner came out up front for Tyson Empey and Kevin Conley while on the backend Tyrel Bauer was replaced by Dawson Barteaux.
Moose lineup:
Fagemo – Zhilkin – Di Giuseppe
Shaw – Gustafsson – Duehr
Barlow – Yager – JAD
Empey – Conley –Vitelli
Heinola – Clague
Phillips – Salomonsson
Sautner – Barteaux
DiVincentiis
Notable:
Early in the first a pair of first rounders almost connect on this one for the Moose as Brayden Yager (2023) misses this chance to open the scoring off a good pass from Ville Heinola (2019).
Big stop early in the middle frame for Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis who keeps the score 0-0 with this save on the breakaway.
Just past the midpoint of the middle frame the best chance for the Moose on the power play comes courtesy of this nifty pass by Brayden Yager over to Samuel Fagemo just cannot connect.
A hit after the whistle on Jets prospect Colby Barlow (2023 1st) brings in his fellow draft classman Brayden Yager and the vet of the line Jaret Anderson-Dolan who had some things to say about it.
Tough break for the Moose as the second period winds down and the Stars open the scoring as the home team is unable to clear the puck (or the front of the net).
Moose had a number of grade A chances on the power play to tie the game early in the 3rd period. Ville Heinola tried to redirect this slap pass by Kale Clague but a nice save was made.
Both David Gustafsson and Walker Duehr both with solid shots to tie it but no dice.
After three straight fails to score on the power play by the home team the visitors got it done to expand their lead to 2-0.
Moose continued to push for a goal but continue to get stymied. Nice retrieval by Colby Barlow who finds JAD but he cannot get the backhand to go.
What a sequence of saves by Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis as he does his best to keep his Moose team close. He made three in a row and then another great one 30 seconds later.
The Moose points streak ends at three games as the Stars take this one 3-0 to sweep the two-game set in Manitoba.
