Moose get back to winning ways at home with 4-3 OT victory over Gulls

The Skinny:

After winning the three games to kick off this six-game homestand the Moose have lost the last two (once in overtime and once in regulation) and they come into tonight’s game wanting a victory against a Gulls team that beat them 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Gameplay:

– The game began as well as Manitoba could have hoped with Ryan White scoring on the first shot;
– But then the good times continued as Logan Shaw scored on the 2nd shot to make it 2-0;
– That was it for Kevin Boyle as the Moose chase him from the net with Jeff Glass coming in;
– Moose had really good jump in their game in the opening period;
– They made it 3-0 when Cam Schilling buried a Ryan White rebound;
– All looked smooth for the home side but a Gulls power play got the visitors into this one;
– Eight seconds later a Chase De Leo rebound ended up in back of Moose net to make it 3-2;
– 1st period would end 3-2 for the Moose with the Gulls holding a 16-11 shot edge.
– Thought the Moose would come out strong to start the 2nd but it was the Gulls with the push;
– Moose had to kill off a 5 on 3 power play (for a full minute);
– Best chance for either team went to the Moose as Ryan White had a shorthanded breakaway chance;
– Kristian Vesalainen looked more comfortable and he rang a shot off the post in the middle frame;
– In the end neither side scored in 2nd, Gulls had an 11-8 shot edge (27-19 overall) but score was 3-2 Moose.
– At the midway point of the 3rd the Moose got sloppy and allowed a shorthanded goal to tie it up 3-3;
– Each team would have chances but this game would need OT.
– Kristian Vesalainen had a couple of big moves in OT, one which didn’t result in a goal and one that did;

– Moose earned the 4-3 OT victory.

Notable:

The Moose continued their winning ways at home going 16-2-1-1 in the last 20 games as they improve to 31-27-4-2 on the season.  They concluded this six-game homestand going 4-1-1-0.
