Moose conclude tremendous eight-game homestand with 5-3 win over the Wolves

The Moose suffered their only regulation loss of their eight-game homestand in their contest on Friday night against the Wolves which two-set series concluded this afternoon in Winnipeg.

Lineup news:

Only changes were a swap of Jets prospects Simon Lundmark (in) and Tyrel Bauer (out) as well as captain Jimmy Oligny coming out for Ashton Sautner. As well Oskari Salminen got the net from Arvid Holm.

I cannot speak to what other AHL organizations do with their specialty jerseys but the Moose are at NHL quality with the ones they do. These WASAC uniforms are incredible. And the proceeds from the sale of them will benefit the Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre.

Give Jansen Harkins 14 goals on the season as he opened the scoring for the Moose on the power play. With this goal by Harkins he ties Moose assistant coach Nolan Baumgartner on the Manitoba all-time goals list with 41.

If you’re gonna score your first goal of the season may as well make it a beauty and that’s just what Isaac Johnson did to give Manitoba a two goal lead in the 1st period.

Puck always seems to find Cole Maier or perhaps alternate captain Cole Maier always seems to find the puck because he had a nice tip to help his squad regain their lead.

There was some definite feistiness in this game and that was on exhibit with Dominic Toninato. He helped Manitoba take back the lead for good courtesy of his 13th goal of the season. It also won fans free pancakes.

Moose were very good to start the 3rd period outshooting the Wolves 11-3 including the goal by Toninato.

And if that wasn’t enough there was almost a goalie fight between Moose goalie Oskari Salminen and Wolves goalie Pyotr Kochetkov.

The Moose end a fantastic eight-game homestand with a big win over the Wolves this afternoon as they go 6-1-1-0. It’s their 30th win of the season as they improve to 30-17-3-3. They sit 3rd in Central.
