Moose arrest slide with 2-0 win, firing 51 shots at the Roadrunners, as they pick up first ever win in Tucson

The Moose started the season with so much promise defeating the top team in last year’s regular season but had then been on the losing end of five in a row although their last game was an OT loss to the Wolves in Chicago. While it is still early the team needed to right the ship sooner rather than later.

Netminder Thomas Milic gets a second consecutive start while only lineup change is Ethan Frisch comes in for Tyrel Bauer on the backend.

It was a pretty even opening period with both teams getting plenty of shots and each getting a power play although the penalty to Manitoba was late so it carried over into the middle frame.

The Moose would go to town over the next 40 minutes peppering Roadrunners goalie Matthew Villalta with 41 shots and only beating him once when Samuel Fagemo found the back of the net in the 2nd for his second of the season which came on the power play. It was an All-Swedish stat line with Elias Salomonsson and David Gustafsson getting the apples.

Moose goalie Thomas Milic wasn’t as busy as his Roadrunners counterpart but he was up to the task including aggressive plays like this on the penalty kill as they defended a one goal lead.

Just after prospect Danny Zhilkin was unable to bury an empty netter, Jaret Anderson-Dolan took the puck down the ice and sealed the deal with an empty netter to make it 2-0. That was his first of the season.

It was a big night in Tucson for the Moose who ended their slide with a 2-0 win over the Roadrunners. As per play-by-play voice Daniel Fink it was their first ever win there (haven’t played there in nine years).

Prospect Thomas Milic with the 26-save shutout which was the second SO of his career.
