Moose are streaking with 4-2 win over division rival Wild to start eight-game homestand

The Moose have been on the road awhile but tonight they began an eight game homestand against their division rival Iowa who came into the game tied with Manitoba at 53 points each (although the Moose have two games in hand).

Lineup news:

The Moose got a boost with the assignment of Axel Jonsson-Fjällby by the Jets to their AHL affiliate on Tuesday. They would also get Jets prospect Henri Nikkanen (2019 4th) back after he missed a couple of games on the road. They also got goalie Arvid Holm back after he was returned from emergency recall by Winnipeg.

With the All-Star break in the rearview mirror the Moose flipped to their dark jerseys for the remainder of the season.

Moose thought they had opened the scoring courtesy of a Nicholas Jones tip but the ref called it off due to goalie interference.

You can only allow so many breakaways before you get burnt and for Manitoba it was the third one of the game that they allowed which gave Iowa the 1-0 lead.

Five minutes after the Moose had given up the lead they tied the game courtesy of this nice pass by Kristian Reichel to Jansen Harkins.

Shortly thereafter Jansen Harkins scored again off a nifty pass by Ville Heinola to give the home team their first lead of the game.

In Harkins last 48 games with the Moose (30 in 2019-20 and 18 this season) he has: 18G 34A for 52 points in 48 games.

They would add to this with their third goal in less than three minutes as the newest forward Axel Jonsson-Fjällby scored his first in a Moose uniform to make it 3-1.

After they allowed a late goal in the 2nd to bring Iowa within one Manitoba restored their two goal lead courtesy of this ripper by Leon Gawanke.

Moose took it by a final score of 4-2 to kick off eight straight at home with a win over their division rival Wild. They are 25-16-3-2. It’s their third win in a row (reminder loss on Monday counted as a loss last month because it was a continuation) and they are 3-0-1-0 in their last four games.

The win moves them into 3rd in the division.
