Monday Morning NHL Papers (Western Conference): Senator John McCain wants fans to come out to games in Phoenix, Calgary’s bad habits and the Hawks in the trade market

Central Division

• The Hawks won their seventh consecutive game at home for the first time in eight years, writes Chris Kuc.  It looks like the Hawks are in the trade market for a center.
• Once again, Fedor Tyutin has had another slow start to the season but coach Ken Hitchcock doesn’t seem worried.  Meantime, Anton Stralman married his wife so she would quickly get a visa and would be able to come live with him in Columbus.
• With injuries to the team’s back-end, the Wings have asked Brad Stuart to do a little bit more.  Jonathan Ericsson has made some youthful mistakes in Detroit, but Mike Babcock has stayed confident in him.
• With injuries aside, the Predators’ top line is happy they are reunited, writes John Glennon.
• The Blues are awaiting word on the injury status of power forward David Backes.

Northwest Division

• Curtis Glencross returns to the Flames lineup tomorrow against Colorado and is quite eager to get back in game mode.  Brent Sutter knows that his team still needs to break some bad habits.  As of now, Miikka Kiprusoff is hiding the team’s bad habits.
• Paul Stastny hasn’t been playing poorly in Colorado, but he can play better, writes Terry Frei.
• The Oilers aren’t doing themselves any favors lately, as they didn’t put pressure on a tired Thrashers and ended up losing 3-2.  At least Sheldon Souray returned to the lineup on Sunday.
• Todd Richards couldn’t believe his team’s awful performance in the first period of yesterday’s loss to the previously struggling Hurricanes, writes Michael Russo.

Pacific Division

• Bob Murray has made comments about his team needing to improve its play, even if his players didn’t know he made these comments.
• Marty Turco has played really well this season which means Marc Crawford will increase his workload.
• The Ducks have called up Kyle Calder for tonight’s game but he may not be available.
• Apparently Senator John McCain is a Coyotes fan.
• Here are some quotes from Jeremy Roenick night in Chicago.  The Sharks blew another two-goal lead and only registered one point in the standings.
