The Moose started off their homestand with over 7000 kids in attendance early this morning as they played a school-day game in front of kids from kiddos from around Manitoba. Coming into this game they were 4-2-0 and sitting 3rd in the Central (although tied with the Stars).
Lineup news:
No David Gustafsson but it’s not a recall. Sounds like he’s dealing with an ailment. Which means the Jets have not yet made a recall ahead of their road trip to Boston and sounds like they’ll continue with 12/7 configuration for time being.
Prospect addition:
It’s that time of years when teams are adding players to their AHL affiliate although generally those players are coming as undrafted free agents from the NCAA. I have confirmed that 2024 2nd rounder Alfons Freij is in Winnipeg.
Moose lineup:
Shaw-Ford-Di Giuseppe
Chibrikov-Yager-Duehr
JAD-Zhilkin-Fagemo
Wagner-Julien-Barlow
Sautner-Bauer
Phillips-Anhorn
Clague-Barteaux
Milic
Notable:
Tough span in the 1st period for the home team as Moose goalie Thomas Milic got interefered with resulting in the first goal against followed by another close call where he appeared to cover the puck but they banged it home to take a 2-0 lead in 2 two minutes and 54 seconds.
First tilt (I think) for Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin although it was more MMA than boxing.
Ryder Rolston reminding me of his dad Brian with this shot. Best save of the game by Milic.
Tyrel Bauer almost scores twice during this sequence including a plinko style goal but no dice as the middle frame concluded.
The Moose start off the homestand with a disappointing 4-0 loss to the Admirals in front of 7000+ screaming kiddos at the school day game and the Admirals cut their deficit to five points back of them in the standings.
