We spent quite a bit of time on this morning’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show discussing the injury to Nikolaj Ehlers in last night’s 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights in Vegas which saw him get hurt along the boards, slam his stick in frustration and leave the ice for the dressing room where he did not return. If you missed it here was the play.
After the game Jets head coach Scott Arniel described it as “not good obviously” although he wasn’t prepared to label him as anything more than day-to-day.
A day later with the team having an optional skate in Dallas the bench boss spoke to the media again and Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press relayed this from the head coach about Ehlers:
“Nikolaj Ehlers, who left yesterday’s game in the second period, hasn’t been ruled out for Sunday’s game. He’s still considered day to day. They’ll wait and see how he feels tomorrow. Not skating today.”
Even if 27 cannot play tomorrow that potentially means it isn’t as bad an injury as contemplated.
There was plenty to takeaway from the Jets' third loss in their last four games.
