Manitoba Moose snap skid behind Milic shutout in 1-0 win, gain ground in Central

The Moose have been reeling of late having lost four straight games and in danger of falling to the 5th and final playoff spot in the Central. While the likelihood of missing the post-season is remote (given the IceHogs are 11 back with one less game to play) the fact is that Manitoba had a very good shot of having home ice and have squandered it as a result of this slide.

Lineup news:

So after dressing for a potential 11/7 scenario last night, the Moose did not dress Tyrel Bauer tonight as they give him more time to heal but does mean he’s now missed four straight games. They remain without David Gustafsson as well who continues to deal with an injury. And prospect Alfons Freij remains out with illness.

Moose lineup:

Shaw-JAD-Di Giuseppe
Fagemo-Julien-Duehr
Wagner-Yager-Chibrikov
Vitelli-Yoder-Barlow

Phillips-Clague
Sautner-Barteaux
Anhorn-Larochelle

Milic

Notable:

A great play by Jets prospect Brayden Yager who doesn’t quite get this chance to go but he then finds Samuel Fagemo who opens the scoring for the Moose. The goal was brought to you by the number 17:  It was Fagemo’s 17th goal of season, Yager’s 17th assist as well as Jaret Anderson-Dolan’s 17th assist.

Thomas Milic makes five straight stops to start the 2nd period for the Moose (even though they had the man advantage).

More big stops from Milic who kept things up in the 3rd for the Moose to keep his club up by one.

Manitoba has been dangerous shorthanded and they had a chance to add some insurance but a Walker Duehr chance ends up on top of the Senators net and not in it.

Jets prospect Colby Barlow set a career-high with seven shots on net.

That’s a big win for the Moose as they snap a four-game slide with a 1–0 victory over the Senators. Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic records a 32-save shutout. That’s his fourth one of the season.

With the win and with the Admirals losing the Moose are back to being three points up on Milwaukee for 4th in the Central. The Stars also lost which means that Manitoba are just two points back of 3rd (with a game in hand).
