The Moose slide continued after a less than successful road trip away from Manitoba which saw the AHL club of Winnipeg lose two more games in Alberta and then two more in British Columbia to get swept back home. In total this team is now winless in eight games (0-7-0-1). While that’s bad it’s worth remembering this same club got mired in an 11 game winless streak during the 2023-24 campaign but got things turned around sufficiently to make a playoff push and qualify for the play-in series. Perhaps luckily enough this team has gone though it earlier so perhaps they can get back on track earlier than they did last year.
Today was supposed to be an off day after the team travelled home on Sunday from Abbotsford but the coaching staff made the decision to skate today instead. Despite all the losing there is still plenty to talk about regarding this team including injury updates on Jets prospects Elias Salomonsson and Danny Zhilkin, captain Dominic Toninato who was unavailable for their last game and more.
Skate news:
The good news is that Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin, who was dealing with a knee injury that he’s been rehabbing, is back in a regular jersey. No captain Dominic Toninato for today’s skate.
Will also get an update on Elias Salomonsson who obviously isn’t skating (at least with the team).
Lines:
Shaw – JAD – Ford
Lucius – Lambert – Suess
Torgersson – King – AJF
Wagner – Zhilkin – Empey

Health update:
As per head coach Mark Morrison both Dominic Toninato and Tyrel Bauer are day-to-day and expected to practice with the team this week. Good news on Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson (2022 2nd) who suffered an upper-body injury back on December 6th. “He will be back after Christmas. Right after Christmas.”
Post-practice:
They actually took the nets off the ice so they could clean the ice and Lambert is still out there tooling around.
