The Moose took to the ice today for a quicker than normal practice as they were heading out to school across Winnipeg to participate in the Stick to Reading program.

Skate news:

Three guys missing from practice were Tyrel Bauer, Wyatt Bongiovanni and Danny Zhilkin.

Special Teams work:

The focus of today’s practice was mostly on special teams which currently rank 21st overall in power play and 30th overall in penalty kill. Head coach Mark Morrison feels on the power play they need to be “quicker, with some more execution. Have more of a shot mentality”.

Units were:

PP: Heinola, Ford, Malott, Lambert, Chibrikov
PP: Capobianco, Toninato, AJF, Viel, Reichel

PK: Suess, Nikkanen, Lundmark, Sautner
PK: Jones, Torgersson, Stewart, Barteaux

Health updates:

Moose bench boss Mark Morrison provided updates on the trio who were missing from practice:

Danny Zhilkin: out for the season. Had shoulder surgery. More here.
Tyrel Bauer: day-to-day, dealing with a back issue.
Wyatt Bongiovanni: day-to-day, doesn’t expect him to play this weekend.

Player Media Availability:

Up next:
