Manitoba Moose Playoff Practice Report

The Moose have a long time between games so they are using that opportunity to heal up after a long regular season and also to stay sharp as the coaching staff prepares them to face a very good Milwaukee Admirals club next week.

Practice notes:

Couple of players not taking part in today’s practice including Kristian Reichel who had a fall against the Stars on the final road trip of the regular season and hasn’t played since. The team is waiting to make a decision on him. Additionally, recently reassigned Dmitry Kuzmin is having some visa issues resolved so he wasn’t on the ice with the team today.

Declan Chisholm remains in the yellow, not contact jersey but he did take part in scrimmage and he was paired with Leon Gawanke so presuming he doesn’t have any setbacks he might be in a regular uniform by early next week.

Staying put:

A few days ago it was announced that Dominic Toninato had signed a two-year deal with the Jets organization that begins for the 2023-24 season. Toninato said he and his family have “made this place home. We like it here. The organization has been great. We love everyone from top to bottom.” He went on to say that the stability was really nice for him given he and his wife just welcomed a new addition to their family and being close to his family in Minnesota. His representation and the Jets brass had a chat mid season, came back to it and then got it done last week.

Unfinished business vs Admirals:

After the Moose and Admirals did battle 17 times last season including a five-game playoff series which saw Milwaukee defeat Manitoba, with the two clubs meeting again this playoffs do players feel there is “unfinished business” given the expectations for their season last year. Forward Jeff Malott who was a big part of the team last year felt there is. “We obviously weren’t happy with how playoffs went last year, we’ve got a lot of guys who feel they’ve got stuff to prove, so ya I think we’ll be ready to come with some intensity.”.
