Manitoba Moose holding Sami Niku out against the Iowa Wild as he recovers from a lower-body injury

If you are going to the Moose game tonight you will not be able to watch the AHL’s most outstanding defenceman from 2017-18 as Sami Niku won’t play against the Iowa Wild according to Pascal Vincent who confirmed on Moose TV following today’s morning skate that “Sami Niku is still out.  We want to take care of that lower-body injury properly and make sure he is 100% when he comes back.”

With the smooth-skating Finnish defenceman not taking part in practice this week you can likely expect the team to hold Niku out of all games this weekend as they try to get him back to full health.  But I will confirm this with Coach Vincent after tonight’s game.

It has to be frustrating for the Jets 7th rounder from 2015 who had such a good opportunity this season to crack the Jets top six with all the departures they had over the summer.  Niku should be back up with the big club as soon as he is back to full health and ready to contribute.
