After almost two weeks in California the Manitoba Moose were back on the ice today at Bell MTS IcePlex as they prepare for six straight games at home starting with the defending Calder Cup champion Toronto Marlies on Friday and Saturday.
In addition to the players recalled to the Jets (Mason Appleton & Sami Niku) Manitoba’s roster has dealt with a number of players who are missing due to injury. I spoke to head coach Pascal Vincent following skate and here were his updates on the following missing players:
1) Nic Kerdiles
He last played on October 13th vs Belleville and he remains out indefinitely.
2) Tucker Poolman
He last played on November 23rd vs Iowa. “We could say week-to-week. I don’t have a set date. He’s seeing a specialist today. We’ll know more I guess in the next few days. But we don’t have a set date.”. He indicated further to me that Poolman is concussed.
3) JC Lipon
He last played on November 28th vs San Diego. He is dealing with an upper-body injury and is considered week-to-week.
4) Seth Griffith
He last played on December 1st vs Bakersfield. The team sent him back home following this game from the California road trip and the Moose coach indicated he is dealing with a lower-body injury and that the talented forward could be back “Not this weekend, maybe the following weekend, we’ll see.”.
5) Ryan White
Like Griffith, Ryan White returned home from the California road trip after that December 1st game against the Condors. White is also seen as possible to return to the lineup by his coach on the weekend of the 21st (when the Moose face the Griffins).
6) Luke Green
He last played on December 7th vs Stockton. He actually took the pre-game warm up skate the next night in Stockton (December 8th) but coach Vincent indicated “After the warm up he didn’t feel right and he said he couldn’t play. Symptoms of a concussion but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.”
7) Skyler McKenzie
The California road trip took quite the toll as the Jets 2017 7th rounder was hurt in a game on December 7th when facing the Heat in Stockton. Coach Vincent indicated McKenzie is “Concussed. We don’t know. He’ll have his test later this week. Not this weekend, maybe next week.”.
Quite a list of players on the sidelines for the AHL squad. This of course has meant players have had an opportunity to jump up including Jets 2016 1st rounder Logan Stanley who coach Vincent told me has been playing 25-30 minutes a game for the Moose. I will have more on this in tomorrow’s Moose Report.
