Manitoba Moose forward Joona Luoto jokingly begins English interview in Finnish

We’ve discussed Winnipeg becoming Finnipeg for some time now. Currently there are two Finnish players with the Jets (Patrik Laine & Ville Heinola) and three with the Moose (Sami Niku, Kristian Vesalainen and Joona Luoto).  It was a Suomi day after Moose practice today as all three players with the AHL squad were interviewed.

Joona Luoto was asked about his adjustment to living in Winnipeg the past couple of months after spending his entire life in Finland.  He jokingly began the interview in Finnish and then deadpanned saying “Oh I thought this was Finnish day so you want me to speak Finnish…oh sorry” before he laughingly told the gathering “hey guys you have to crack yourselves up”.

It is always good to see players showing off their personality.
