Manitoba Moose falter as IceHogs roll to 6-2 victory in Rockford

The Moose traveled back to Rockford on Monday which is where they played in the second game of their six-game road trip. This contest will be number four and the final one against a Central Division opponent. They won in a shootout although probably should have won in regulation or OT outshooting the IceHogs 34-14 through 65 minutes.

The Jets reassigned Jacob Julien from the Norfolk of the ECHL to Manitoba yesterday which was basically a conditioning stint after missing the last three months due to injury. It left us wondering if he would be making his AHL debut after making a solid pro debut for the Admirals this past weekend.

It turns out that Julien did not make his AHL debut. The team also made a change pulling Fabian Wagner in favour of Tyson Empey. They were also without Isaak Phillips who had been recalled by the Jets. Foxwarren’s Dawson Barteaux played in his spot.

When your power play hadn’t scored in the previous six games you just expect golden opportunities like this one for Samuel Fagemo to go awry.

Not sure Moose captain Mason Shaw will ever score an easier goal as Walker Duehr makes the perfect pass which 18 buried.That’s his 9th goal of the season. David Gustafsson also got an assist on the goal.

No clue how this wasn’t called a penalty as Ville Heinola gets taken out. It wasn’t and the IceHogs get a 3 on 1 opportunity as a result but Thomas Milic made a fantastic save. Heinola was rightfully pissed off and got hit with a ten minute misconduct penalty.

Who says goalies aren’t tough? Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic takes as hard a hit as a goalie can receive and eventually he pops up with a big smile on his face.

With the score out of hand, Samuel Fagemo put this loose puck into the back of the net on the power play. He’s now tied for the team lead in goals with 11. Every Manitoba player on the ice touched the puck. It was first PP goal after six games without (0/21).

The Moose would go on to lose 6-2 to their division rival and fail to gain any ground on the Wolves who sit 2nd in the Central.
