The Moose were looking to rebound in today’s re-match after a brutal 6-2 loss to the Admirals on Saturday which was disappointing given they started the road trip with a big win over the Griffins who are the top team in the AHL.
Loaned:
About an hour before puck drop we learned that the Jets had returned Kale Clague back to the AHL club.
Lineup news:
Tyrel Bauer back after two game suspension. Still no Colby Barlow who missed his fourth straight game. He was listed as day-to-day. Thomas Milic gets a chance to bounce back after giving up six on 31 shots.
Moose lineup:
Shaw – Ford- Di Giuseppe
JAD – Zhilkin – Fagemo
Empey – Lambert – Chibrikov
Julien – Yager – Wagner
Sautner – Bauer
Anhorn – Phillipw
Moulton – Barteaux
Milic
Notable:
Moose must have gotten the memo as they came out way stronger today than they did yesterday. Got out to an 8-0 shot edge in first 4 minutes of the game which included a power play opportunity.
Tyrel Bauer vs Kyle Marino is a heavyweight tilt. Think this is the fifth time these two have fought over the years.
Best chance for Manitoba in the opening period saw Parker Ford get in on a breakaway and catch iron with this shot.
Dylan Moulton, the pride of Nolensville, Tennessee, has his first AHL goal in just his third game. He opened the scoring for the Moose.
Admirals struck back to tie the game as Moose a bit loose defensively.
It was another solid start to a period for Manitoba who hold a 9-2 shot edge over Milwaukee just nine minutes into the 2nd period. The problem is both teams have scored during that timeframe.
Don’t often see a Dman take a faceoff but that’s what happens when the only forward on the ice gets tossed. Moose killed an extended 5 on 3 against the best power play in the AHL.
Moose took a 2-1 lead in the 2nd as Phil Di Giuseppe got his 10th of the season cleaning up the Mason Shaw shot.
With 8:43 left in the 3rd period Nikita Chibrikov put home the bank shot to give the Moose a 3-1 lead.
However that two goal lead was nullified when Fedor Svechkov blasted home the game tying goal with 2:11 left in the final frame.
And just like that a 3-1 late 3rd period lead ends up as a 4-3 OT loss for the Moose as Milic is beat by this shot for the OT game winner.
Manitoba finishes the road trip going 1-1-1-0. They sit with 54 points in the standings which has them tied with the Stars for 3rd (although the Moose have three games in hand).
