Manitoba Moose captain Peter Stoykewych announces retirement

Winnipegger and Manitoba Moose captain Peter Stoykewych has retired from pro hockey.  After four seasons at Colorado College he made the jump to the pros playing with the IceCaps for six games in 2014-15 once he completed college.  He spent five pro seasons playing in his hometown for the Moose starting in 2015-16.  His most productive campaign on the ice came in 2017-18 when he had nine goals and 18 assists in 70 games.  He was named captain for the 2018-19 season.

He suffered an injury against the Marlies on November 24th and didn’t play another game this season.  In total he played 261 games for the Moose and six games for the IceCaps.

He holds the distinction of being the last pick of the Atlanta Thrashers back in the 7th round of the 2010 NHL Draft.

In addition to playing hockey he was pursuing an MBA so perhaps there is a chance that you’ll see him around the rink in another capacity.
