Lyon Messier to Skate at Rangers Prospects Tournament

Lyon Messier, former Lincoln Star and son of Mark Messier, will participate in the Rangers rookie tournament being held in Traverse City, Michigan. 8 teams will participate in the tournament.

Those names are “players who have been part of the sytem for a few years like Bobby Sanguinetti, Tommy Pyatt, Brodie Dupont, and Artem Anisimov; as well as 2008 draft picks Michael Del Zotto, Evgeny Grachev, recently signed defenseman Tomas Kundratek, and Dale Weise.”

Also among the invitees is Lyon Messier, one of five players who are not Rangers property but have been invited to play for the team. Dubi Weinstein at Blueshirt Bulletin has a bit about Lyon and some of the others.

Lyon’s father played a little hockey around these parts a few years back.

It should be some good exposure for Messier, a defenseman who plays a rough and tumble style and can contribute offensively.
