From Sam Carchidi of the philly.com:

Right winger Joffrey Lupul is close to signing a four-year contract extension with the Flyers.

Lupul, who had the second 20-goal season of his career last season, denied an Edmonton radio report that he had agreed to a four-year extension, but he acknowledged that the sides were near a deal.

“We’re still talking, but it’s not finished yet,” he said yesterday. “Hopefully, it’ll get done early next week.”

The initial reports had Lupul’s contract averaging around $4.5 million per season. The Edmonton native should eventually become a consistent 30 goal scorer, so something around $4 million certainly isn’t unreasonable.
