Peter Loubardias, who has primarily done junior hockey work but also called a handful of Edmonton games every season, is the new play-by-play voice of the Flames on Sportsnet.

Loubardis is replacing Roger Millions as the play-by-play man, with Millions going back to his hosting position. The majority of Loubardias’ work can be seen calling the CHL, so I assume the Sportsnet brass likes what they see. I on the other hand enjoyed Millions’ work (and his snazzy blazers) the past couple of seasons with the Flames, and am sorry to see him go. I’m not sure I will be able to put up with Loubardis’ whiney voice come game 56 during a Flames-Jackets barn burner.
