Yesterday saw the return of Nikolaj Ehlers to the ice as he skated with strength and conditioning coach Jake Wolff ahead of Jets practice. He was apparently not on the ice today and Jets bench boss Rick Bowness was asked during his media availability how Ehlers feels today:
“That’s a good question. He obviously didn’t skate today. And we’re going to have to make a call here eventually, very soon here what we’re going to do with him.”
The follow up question was asked about whether surgery might be a consideration:
“Nothing’s off the table with Nikolaj right now. That’s a decision that other people will make. Right now as we speak we’re not there. I know I’m talking around the question but I can’t give you the definitive answer on that. I can’t.”
Asked if it is a groin injury he added:
“It’s a lower-body injury.”
Sounds a bit ominous for Ehlers.
Coming out of retirement at 70 to take control of another bench.
