Latest from day 12 of the Winnipeg Jets training camp

It was a busy Monday at hockey for all centre as the Jets had their 12th day of training camp while the Moose started their first one as the AHL club of Manitoba begins to get ready for their 11th season back in Winnipeg.

IR skating:

Morning began with Jets captain Adam Lowry skating as he continues his rehab from offseason hip surgery skating with J.P. Vigier. Also on the ice was prospect Kieron Walton (concussion) who continues to work his way back. He’ll head back to junior when he passes his test.

Skate news:

Somewhat unexpectedly Thomas Milic was skating in place of Connor Hellebuyck who had been warming up with the group that had been scheduled to be on the ice but left for the dressing room.

Health news:

We were told that Dylan Samberg has a broken wrist and will miss 6-8 weeks. With regards to Connor Hellebuyck all we were told by Arniel was he “wasn’t feeling quite right”.

Waivers & Loan:

Around 1 PM we learned that the Jets had placed Mason Shaw and Phil Di Giuseppe on waivers as per Frank Seravalli. The team subsequently announced they had loaned prospect Danny Zhilkin to the Moose which brings their training camp roster down to 42.

Up next:

The Jets will have a morning skate on Tuesday, which may or may not include Connor Hellebuyck who was scheduled to start against the Wild, and then they’ll take off for St. Paul. Puck drop is at 7 PM CDT and the game is being streamed by the team.
