L.A Kings smother Winnipeg Jets in almost all aspects of the game on way to 4-1 win

The Kings smothered the Jets in almost all facets of the game on way to a 4-1 win over Winnipeg in L.A. With the loss the visitors fell to 18-5-0 on the season.

Notable:

The Jets PK continues to lag behind the success of the rest of the team as they gave up a quick PP goal to the Kings less than two minutes into the 1st.

Los Angeles held a 13-5 shot edge after 20 minutes of play.

Rasmus Kupari got a penalty shot but no dice against Big Save Dave Rittich.

After the Jets were too casual leading to a Kings 2-0 lead in the 2nd they got back into the game courtesy of a Gabrial Vilardi power play goal against his former team to cut the lead in half. That was his ninth goal of the season.

A somewhat harmless looking shot by Kevin Fiala in the 3rd deflected past Hellebuyck off Haydn Fleury’s skate and into the back of the net to make it a 3-1 game.

In a game Winnipeg was trailing in the final frame they were limited to one shot in the first 15 minutes of the period. Los Angeles smothered the visitors.

The Jets fall to 18-5-0 with the loss which oddly enough through four games on this road trip have either won or lost by the final score of 4-1 according to Dan Robertson on tonight’s TSN broadcast. They are 2-2-0 so far on the six-game trip.
