From the Monteal Gazette:

Kostitsyn’s agent, Don Meehan, and Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey talked on the weekend during the draft in Ottawa and there were more talks this week involving Julien BriseBois, the Canadiens’ vice-president of hockey operations.

While Meehan was reluctant to get into details, he said the two sides were getting closer.

These two sides have no reason to not come to some sort of an agreement soon. Both sides are interested in gettting something done as Kostitsyn is happy in Montreal and the team has been happy with his production. The deal should get done in the next couple days.
