By this time last year the team had already cut down the training camp roster by 27 players although training camp last year began on September 18th (this season it began September 23rd). Last season they did make their first round of cuts five days into camp although I suspect they wanted to wait for coach Maurice to return to the city from the World Cup of Hockey so he could watch a skate and talk to his coaches before announcing any.
This afternoon the team finally made their first re-assignments of the 2016-17 season. There are as follows:

Defenceman Matt Murphy has been released from his ATO.
The Jets now have 25 forwards, 13 defencemen and four goaltenders remaining at training camp.
