Jets prospect Kevin He in Winnipeg but won’t play for Moose (banged up from OHL season)

Jets prospect Kevin He (2024 4th) picked up an assist in game 5 of his first round for the IceDogs but his Niagara team fell to Barrie and his playoffs were over. He finished with three goals and one assist in the five games which was his first taste of the OHL post-season.

From our prospect regular season roundup this is what He did in his first year as an NHL drafted player:

He was selected by the Jets in June in the fourth round he became the highest-drafted Chinese-born player in NHL history. Not knowing the type of player he was we discovered one with a motor that doesn’t stop. He’s got a tenacity that is quite evident when you watch his highlights. He followed up a 53 points (31G 22A) in 64 game season with one where he scored 36G added 39A for 75 points in 62 games. His points per game jumped from 0.83 to 1.21. He also got a three-year ELC with the Jets back in December.

When he did his end of season chat with the Dog Pound podcast which is the official one of his junior club they mentioned something about healing up following the season to which he responded with:

“I’m excited to hopefully recover from a couple of these injuries and keep getting better.”

When he didn’t join his best friend Kieron Walton in signing an ATO earlier this week or at all it seemed unlikely he’d be joining the Moose for the final four games/week of the regular season.

He is in Winnipeg this weekend to check out the Moose game and the Jets game tomorrow night but he won’t be a player. He’ll then head home for a summer of training.
