Jets prospect Fabian Wagner remains red-hot in Moose 3-2 OT win over the Icehogs

Manitoba was in Rockford to conclude their four-game road trip with the most consequential game of the four since this is the team they are chasing for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Central. Coming into the game the Moose were 10 points back with 14 games remaining, three of which (including tonight’s) which would come against the Icehogs.

Lineup news:

Veteran winger Axel Jonsson-Fjallby was back in the lineup after missing four straight games.

Lines & D pairs:

Shaw– Toninato –AJF
Suess – JAD – Lambert
Wagner – Zhilkin – King
Empey – Engelbert–Vitelli

Sautner– Salomonsson
Phillips – Lundmark
Anhorn – Coghlan

DiVincentiis

Notable:

Just over a minute after giving up the opening goal of the game the Moose strike back to tie it. Mason Shaw got his 14th of the season with the assist to AJF (his 14th).

Seven goals in seven games for Jets prospect Fabian Wagner (2022 6th) who didn’t score last game (but had two three games ago). Just wild what he’s doing as he ripped this shot home to make it 2-1 for Manitoba. Didn’t score in first 31 games and now has 7G in 7 games.

The Moose really needed a clean two points but the Icehogs tied it up late in the 3rd with just 2:27 left in the game.

While it wasn’t ideal for the Icehogs to get any points the Moose at least ended the road trip with a big 3-2 OT win. They trail Rockford by nine points for final playoff spot in the Central with two more meetings to go. CJ Suess with his ninth goal picked up the OT GWG.

Multi-point game:

Mason Shaw 1G 1A

The Moose will return home where they will face the Canucks this weekend in a pair of games.
