Paul Maurice named to Team Europe’s World Cup coaching staff

News broke this morning from Darren Dreger of TSN that Jets bench boss Paul Maurice, who spent some time in the KHL, will be added to Team Europe’s coaching staff. (Update:  Jets have now confirmed)

The head coach of Team Europe is former Oilers head coach Ralph Krueger and the GM is Miroslav Satan.  Team Europe will draw players from those European countries outside of the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and Sweden.

If you are wondering what exactly is the World Cup of Hockey it is described on the NHL web site as:

“The 2016 World Cup of Hockey will feature eight teams competing for a best-on-best international hockey championship: The eight teams participating in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey are Team Canada, Team Czech Republic, Team Finland, Team Russia, Team Sweden, Team USA, Team Europe and Team North America. It is expected that more than 150 of the best players in the NHL will participate in this tournament.”
