Notable:
Neither side scored in the opening period of play but it was still an entertaining 20 minutes of play.
The middle frame would have no such concerns as both teams got on the scoresheet starting with Winnipeg courtesy of Mark Scheifele who scored his 20th of the season to make it 1-0. Nine straight seasons for Scheifele with 20 goals or more. Talk about consistent.
After the Rangers tied the game on the power play the Jets regained the lead courtesy of Kyle Connor‘s 30th of the season which was also a power play goal to make it 2-1 for Winnipeg. That’s the sixth time Connor has hit 30 goals in a season out of seven years in the NHL. And the one year he didn’t was the Covid shortened season in 2020-21. He’s got the fourth most goals from the 2015 draft class.
Top centre Mark Scheifele took advantage of a lax play by Chris Kreider to get his second of the game as he made it 3-1 with the insurance goal.
New York made it interesting scoring with the goalie pulled with 1:54 left in the 3rd.
Mark Scheifele with the fourth Jets hat trick of the season. That’s the eighth of his career.
Another great game from Connor Hellebuyck who made 40 saves in the win.
