The Hurricanes have placed David Tanabe and Jeff Hamilton on waivers with the
intention of buying out their contracts.

These players are replaceable for the Hurricanes. Tanabe didn’t add much to their defense, and while Hamilton did play well on the power play point for a time last season, they obviously feel like his offensive production isn’t worth keeping around.
