Hockey Hits: Sports economist pegs Coyotes relocation fee at $13-million, Firing Kelly the wrong direction for the NHLPA and might Phil Kessel be Shark bait?

Some news and notes from across the blogs:

  • From the Rink:  Sports economist pegs Coyotes relocation fee at $13-million (or less).  Some very interesting, previously unreleased numbers went into this report.  I found how much the Leafs made last year and the lack of impact a new team has on an already occupied market to be some interesting tidbits.
  • The Hockey News:  Firing Kelly the wrong direction for the NHLPA.  Whatever happened to when these jobs lasted for decades
  • Snapshots:  Jiri Hudler didn’t receive an IIHF transfer card but that won’t stop the KHL.  The KHL has shown that it has little regard for the rule of law when it doesn’t suit its purposes.
  • Sen Say:  Schubert & Smith.  Looks like the Sens have an abundance of players at that position so these guys look to be expendable.
  • Stanley Cup of Chowder:  Could Kessel be Shark bait?  Where there is smoke there is often fire so it would appear that the Sharks making a move is likely, the question is which move will they make?  Might this be the one?
  • Hitting the Post:  Kane lucky, unfortunately.  Does Kane still not get it?
  • SNY Rangersblog:  Marc Staal and the Olympics.  He would appear to be a longshot to make Team Canada.
  • Puck Daddy:  Goon nostalgia at Los Angeles Kings fan fest.
  • Dobber Hockey:  Taking advantage.  Using stats to help Fantasy poolies get that extra little edge.
