Groulx led the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League to three league title the past six years, including this past season when Gatineau was 43-19-6 record.

Panthers’ general manager Jacques Martin described Groulx, no relation to Panthers’ goaltending coach Pierre Groulx, as “very similar” to new Panthers’ coach Peter DeBoer, a former junior hockey coach.

Groulx obviously has professional coaching aspirations because he turned down a chance at coaching the Canadian juniors at the WJHC in the winter to take this position with Rochester.
