Griffins feast on Moose in 3rd to win 4-1

Photo Credit: Alex James

The Skinny:

The first meeting of the season between the Moose and their central division foe, the Grand Rapids Griffins.  The two teams came into play separated by a single point (in Manitoba’s favour) although the visitor’s came into the contest having seven more goals on the season than the home squad.

Moose Lineup:

Appleton-Suess-Griffith
Vesalainen-Harkins-Spacek
Everberg-Reichel-Lipon
McGinn-White-McKenzie

Stanley-Niku
Schilling-Poolman
Stoykewych-Nogier

Comrie
Appleby

Changes from last game:

– Kristian Vesalainen and Skylar McKenzie both returned from injury;
– Eric Comrie and Tucker Poolman both returned from their time with the Jets in Finland;
– Ryan White played in his second game with Manitoba since signing his PTO;
– Defenceman Luke Green was out of the lineup with the return of Poolman.

Notable:

– Eric Comrie was sensational in the 1st period making 13 saves on 13 shots including a highlight reel pair;

– Logan Stanley scored his first professional goal;
– Lots of hate in this one with plenty of post-whistle chirping;
– both goalies were very good after 40 minutes (Comrie 25 saves, Rybar 19 saves);
– 3rd period saw the visitors take over the game scoring three times (once into an empty net).
