From Dan Wood of the Orange County Register:

Gord Dineen was named coach of the Ducks’ new American Hockey League affiliate Iowa on Tuesday.

Dineen, a former NHL defenseman, takes over the role his younger brother Kevin Dineen held of helping to develop Ducks prospects.

Gord Dineen was an assistant for former Ducks affiliate Portland under Kevin, last season. He was also an assistant with AHL clubs Springfield, Utah and San Antonio.

While the arrangement may be confusing, the Ducks are keeping it in the family.  At the end of last season, the Ducks switched AHL affiliates, but Kevin Dineen stayed on as head coach with the Ducks’ old AHL affiliate in Portland.  Now, the Ducks have a working agreement with Iowa and have hired the older Gord Dineen to coach their AHL affiliate.
