GM Kevin Cheveldayoff discusses three Winnipeg Jets 2016 draft picks

Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff appeared with Shane Malloy & Russ Cohen who host the Hockey Prospects show on Sirius NHL Radio and which airs on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.  They spoke with the Jets GM about three of the draft picks selected by Winnipeg in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

1st round (18th overall) –  Logan Stanley

Currently: In seven games with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL he has no goals and three assists.

Elite Prospects says this about him:

Stanley is a huge defensive minded defenceman. He loves to play physical and clear the crease, but also can chip in offensively when needed. He has become a nasty player that the other team dreads whenever he is on the ice. Very few players can match him physically due his monster 6’7 frame, and he uses this to his advantage every game. He is a very consistent player who’s offensive game saw improvement during his draft year. (Tyler Parchem, EP 2016)

3rd round (79th overall) –  Luke Green

Currently: In nine games with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL he has two goals and four assists.

Elite Prospects says this about him:

An excellent offensive defenceman whose killer instincts in the offensive zone allow him to materialize scoring chances. Very shifty skater who is highly mobile. Good puckhandling ability and puck control; makes quick decisions with the puck in traffic and under pressure. Reliable defensively, but is much more effective when utilizing his offensive tools at the other end of the ice. All-in-all, a smart, smooth-skating defenceman who can play in most situations and excel in an offensive position. (Curtis Joe, EP 2015)

Kevin Cheveldayoff on Luke Green.

4th round (97th overall) –  Jacob Cederholm

Currently: In six games in the Swedish 1st Division he has two assists.

Elite Prospects says this about him:

Cederholm is an aggressive shutdown defenseman with limited offensive skills. Has a big body and skates well enough for someone of his size. Excellent reach and does well in 1-on-1 situations. Will not wow anyone with his offensive tools or puck skills. Good team player with leadership qualities, however. (EP 2016)
