Thought 1:
So I was ecstatic yesterday when I read that Swedish novice Fabian Brunnstrom would be in the line-up for the Dallas Stars in their game against the Nashville Predators as he was a healthy scratch in previous games. I reached nirvana however when Brunnstrom become only the third player in NHL history to record a hat-trick in his first National Hockey League game. Why so gleeful you ask? Well, I drafted Brunnstrom in my keeper hockey pool (I actually benched Brunnstrom for Period 1) and was happy to see that the “much-ballyhooed free agent” was living up to his early season hype. There’s only one problem: the website that we use to manage our hockey pool (Cbssportsline) seems to have no record of Brunnstrom’s existence. This is what comes up when you click on Brunnstrom’s name:
Unlisted Player
This player was added to your roster as a placeholder. When the actual NHL player you want is added to our database, go to the add/drop page to pick up the player you want and drop this unlisted player. Then have your commissioner use the Edit Service Time feature to make sure you are credited with all the stats for this player this season.
Thought 2:
Is there a better name in the National Hockey League right now than Cal Clutterbuck? Hint: The answer is no. The 20-year-old Minnesota Wild rookie from Welland, Ontario has looked impressive in four games for Minnesota playing on a young team and should get props for his name for years to come. Honorable mention for awesome name: B.J. Crombeen of the Dallas Stars.
For Illegal Curve, I’m Ezra Ginsburg.
