The Story: The Winnipeg Jets dropped their exhibition game last night 4-3 to the Nashville Predators on a questionable kick-in goal by Patric Hornqvist and because there is no video review during the pre-season, the goal counted and the Jets had to leave the Music City on a sour note. This afternoon, The Jets are sending a completely different squad to Charlotte, North Carolina to play the 2006 Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes. The Jets are still looking for their first pre-season win on the road after dropping two games to the Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators.
Today’s game is the second in three days for the Jets who will play in St.John’s, Newfoundland tomorrow afternoon against the Ottawa Senators as part of Kraft Hockeyville. Winnipeg will have Tuesday off, then will end the preseason schedule with two homes against the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, September 28th and against the Nashville Predators on Friday, September 30th.
The Jets brought a roster of 23 players to Charlotte to play the Carolina Hurricanes this afternoon, including forwards Alex Burmistrov, Kyle Wellwood and Nik Antropov, defensemen Zach Bogosian and Dustin Byfuglien and goaltender David Aebischer. Forward Marco Rosa, who was the top scorer for the AHL’s Manitoba Moose last season, will be in the line-up after being sidelined with an injury.
Here are the complete rosters (with projected line combinations) for Winnipeg and Carolina for this afternoon’s game:
