Notable:
Dylan Samberg blocked a shot in morning skate and didn’t take warm-up. Instead Kyle Capobianco drew in for the game against his former club.
Nino Niederreiter hitting all the milestones with Winnipeg since being traded to the Jets. He had already achieved his 200th NHL goal, 200th NHL assist and 400th NHL point and this evening he played in his 800th NHL game. The crowd gave him a warm Winnipeg cheers for this accomplishment.
The Jets 2.0 have now played more regular season games than the Thrashers playing game 903 this evening. Atlanta had the Thrashers for 11 seasons but lost one due to a lockout. Winnipeg has had the Jets for 12 seasons but one was cut short due to lockout, two due to pandemic. Been a bit more success in the ‘Peg on the ice.
Winnipeg needed to score first and that’s just what they did courtesy of Nikolaj Ehlers with good anticipation to steal a puck, go in on a breakaway and put home his own rebound.
Adam Lowry continues to be a shorthanded specialist as he scored his 10th ever shorthanded goal and his 10th goal of the season.
Jets got outworked in the middle frame getting outshot 18-3.
While the power play remains powerless (0/6 tnt) the home team did control the final frame.
