The Jets built up a 2-0 lead on goals by Blake Wheeler (21) and Dustin Byfuglien (11) but then gave up two in the 1st and one early in the 2nd to go down 3-2. However they then scored another pair in the 2nd as the Finnish duo of Patrik Laine (33) and Joel Armia (8) gave the Jets a 4-3 lead heading into the 3rd period. Ryan Johansen tied it up and then the Predators won it in OT on the PP.
Of course the play everyone is going to be talking about is this one by Jets rookie Patrik Laine who could have gotten his 34th goal to tie Sidney Crosby for most goals in the NHL and win the game for his team but Pekka Rinne came up with a big stop:
Patrik Laine is still the first rookie to 60 points and continues to lead rookie goals with 34.
Jets won’t have much time to rest as they fly tonight to New Jersey and then take on the Devils on Tuesday night.
Stats:
Post-game audio:
Patrik Laine: How did he like the way the Jets played? Was it a step in the right direction for them considering how they played during the home stand? What did he see on his chance in OT? Fun to score during regulation against a fellow Finn? Did he like his game tonight? Getting ready for the Devils.
Coach Maurice: Did he like the way they started off the road trip despite giving up five goals? Any update on Dano? How did he think his defence handled the absences of the veterans? Putting the 3rd line back together again. Getting a power play goal. What did he see on the tying (4th) goal? Thoughts on Tyler Myers situation.
