The Jets held on for the 4-3 win over the Bruins to improve to 41-25-4 on the season which increases their 1st place lead in the Central to three.

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats here are the results from tonight’s game via Natural Stat Trick.

Game Play:

– The Jets came to play as they started this game quickly when Wheeler scored 1:08 into the 1st;
– They would follow that up on the power play when Mark Scheifele put it past Rask to make it 2-0;
– Jets were unable to get the puck out of the zone, Charlie McAvoy ripped a shot top corner to make it 2-1
– After having a large shot lead the period ended with a 12-11 edge for the Jets with a 2-1 lead.
– Early in the 2nd Jacob Trouba had the best chance to increase lead but rang it off the post;
– At the midpoint of the period the Jets couldn’t clear, Hellebuyck couldn’t grab rebound, B’s tied it;
– Bruins outshot the Jets 18-3 at one point (a 12-5 Wpg edge became 23-15 for Boston);
– Patrik Laine rang it off the post twice on the same power play;
– Bruins outshoot the Jets 19-7 in the middle frame and hold a 30-19 edge after 40 but score tied 2-2.
– First shot of the period (7:38 in) for the Jets found the back of the net as Trouba made it 3-2
– Nikolaj Ehlers ripped a turnover on net to give the Jets a 4-2 lead
– With three minutes to go a Chara shot on net was deflected in to make it 4-3
– The Jets held on for the win.

Multi Point Night:

– Mark Scheifele 1G 2A
– Blake Wheeler 1G 1A
– Patrik Laine 2A

Notable:

For the sixth straight seasons Jets captain Blake Wheeler has scored at least 20 goals.

Mark Scheifele sets a new career high in goals with 33 eclipsing the mark (ha) he set in 2016-17 in 79 games. This season he accomplished it in game 70.

As per TSN Producer Chris Curry turns out tonight was Connor Hellebuyck’s 112th win as a Jets goalie which moves him past Ondrej Pavelec’s 111 in Winnipeg.

Coach Maurice:  What did he think about his team closing that one out?  On Wheeler’s consistency.  Did he have any concern that Trouba’s goal was gonna be challenged/overturned?  What have Wheeler/Scheifele done to get Laine space?  On Laine electing to pass on Scheifele’s goal.  Is Laine more well rounded than people realize?

Up Next:
