Game 60: Islanders 4 Jets 0 post-game recap

In a game that the Jets absolutely needed to win they come out flat and get shutout by the Islanders. With the Wild win they slip from 2nd spot in the Central to first wild card spot. No joy in joyland these days as former coach Claude Noel used to say.

Notable:

About the only positive were the kids involved in the nextgen broadcast including the anthem singer who was excellent as was the between period reporter Gabrielle Couture.

Given that Rick Bowness took Connor Hellebuyck out of the game against Colorado on Friday after the 2nd period it was assumed he’d go back with his top netminder in a must-win game. He instead chose backup David Rittich.  And while the loss doesn’t rest all on his shoulders both the first and third goals weren’t good.
