Game 6: Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues pre-game report

Somehow six games into the regular season the Jets will be facing their first Central Division opponent as they welcome the Blues to town for tonight’s unusual 7:45 PM CDT start time. They are doing that because all 32 teams are in action this evening and the NHL has staggered it so there is a game every 15 minutes.

We do know that head coach Rick Bowness won’t be behind the bench tonight as he has taken a leave of absence from the team as he will be with his wife Judy who suffered a seizure on Sunday. The only player missing from yesterday’s practice was captain Adam Lowry, although Scott Arniel indicated it was maintenance.

Skate news:

No changes for the Jets this morning aside from Adam Lowry joining the skate.

Jets projected lines & D pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Iafallo
Perfetti-Namestnikov-Ehlers
Niederreiter-Lowry-Appleton
Barron-Kupari-Gustafsson

Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Pionk
Samberg-Schmidt

Hellebuyck
Brossoit

Player pre-game interviews:

Coach pre-game interview:

Topics:

1) Did he see more hard plays in the Edmonton game and bringing it forward?
2) The game against the Blues being hard/heavy? (1:11)
3) What did he see from Nate Schmidt after being a healthy scratch? (2:00)
4) What are keys to making life difficult for Jordan Binnington? (2:45)
5) What has he learned about Vlad Namestnikov? (3:33)
6) Did they spend less time in their zone on the PK? (4:43)
7) Maintaining that mindset regardless of opponent? (5:31)

Betway Odds:

The Blues come to town having won their last game which improved them to 2-1-1 on the season. Like the Jets they have a poor goal differential (-2 for St. Louis, -5 for Winnipeg) as these two Central Division Rivals look to inch their way up the standings and not lose too much ground on Colorado who are undefeated (5-0-0) so far this season.
