Quick Thought:
The Blue Jackets are a very good hockey team. Opportunistic, heavy and smart. They dominated the Jets in most facets of the game and if not for Steve Mason in that 1st period it may have been even more lopsided. The Jets goalie likely would want that fourth Columbus goal back but this was a collective team loss.
For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats here are the results from tonight’s game via Natural Stat Trick.
Jets post-game audio:
Blake Wheeler
Steve Mason

Coach Maurice: Analysis of tonight’s game. How does he explain the team not showing up. On Brendan Lemieux’s recall. On the play of Steve Mason. Is it surprising to see some of the culprits for turnovers? On the Jets lack of power play opportunities. On the team not having “jump”. What were the early indications of the team not having “jump”? Was he surprised? What did he think of Kyle Connor?
Blue Jackets post-game audio:
Nick Foligno
Jack Johnson
Coach Tortorella: On the team aspect of the win. On the pace of the game for this team. On the effectiveness of the forecheck. On the strong play in the 1st, rewarded with an early goal in 2nd. On the play of Joonas Korpisalo. On the play of Nick Foligno. On the Columbus lines. On the points in the standings bank. On the play of Brandon Dubinksy.
