Notable:
With Connor Hellebuyck sick the Jets made an emergency recall of Arvid Holm from the Moose who backed up David Rittich.
Josh Morrissey broke Tobias Enstrom’s single season assist record for a Dman as he picks up his 45th of the season. Enstrom had 44 in 82 games for the Thrashers in 2009-10. Morrissey did it in his 54th game of the season.
Josh Morrissey also tied Dustin Byfuglien’s record for points by a defenceman with 56. Big number 33 set it with Winnipeg back in 2013-14 in 78 games. 44 did it in game 54.
Given the fact that David Rittich wasn’t expected to start he played pretty, pretty, pretty well making 27 saves on 29 shots (and realistically he had no chance on the second goal). He has won all three games he’s played this season against the Kraken.
The Jets picked up their 34th win of the season in game 54. Last year win 34 came in game 73. That was almost two months later in the season.
