Notable:
Both teams had chances in the opening period but both goalies brought their A games to the rink as Jordan Binnington and Connor Hellebuyck made 12 saves apiece in the opening frame.
Despite the domination of the middle frame by Winnipeg it was St. Louis who opened the scoring as they took advantage of their power play to make it 1-0 on a goal that many folks thought was offside but the Jets chose not to challenge.
After going down 2-0 early in the 3rd it wasn’t looking good for the home team but Josh Morrissey put the team on his back scoring the first Jets goal in ages and more importantly emphatically pumping up the crowd and his teammates.
About seven minutes later it was a tie game as Mark Scheifele ripped home his 30th goal of the season. It is the third time in his career he’s hit the 30 goal mark.
It was a milestone moment for Kyle Connor who picked up his 200th NHL assist on the game tying goal.
Sure enough the Jets weren’t done there as Josh Morrissey (who else) got his second of the game just 21 seconds after they tied it to give Winnipeg their first lead of the game. That was the 13th game-winning goal of Morrissey’s career which moves him into a tie with Adam Lowry for 10th on the All-Time Jets 2.0 list.
Mark Scheifele with the dagger gets his second of the game into the empty net and Winnipeg had a 4-2 lead which is how the game would end. It is the third time (in three games) the Jets have defeated the Blues.
